Charlie & Chui   Dec 1995

Chui was one of many animals that originated from the West Coast Game Park Zoo in Bandon Oregon. Some of Charlie's BESTS to include Josef, Kolar, Brandi and many others were born of this facility. Chui was born in May of 1995 and came to Charlie in July of that same year. The long and short of the story is that Chui was truly specail for of all the leopards that Charlie has worked with over the years, never has one been this friendly and safe to interact with. He really was a very special friend.

Chui worked with Charlie on productions across the US to include a month long visit to Hawaii to work on Disney's Mighty Joe Young. Never once did he ever lay a tooth on Charlie, an actor or actress. He participated in countless still photo projects with countless professional photographers from around the world.

Chui passed on 10/12/2011, a very sad day at Wild Things for he chose the same day as our beloved Kolar to leave us. Click here to learn more about Kolar. Old age made him less and less mobile and he just couldn't go on. He now rests in an area of the ranch with several other of what Charlie considers the original crew ~ Josef, Brandi, Kolar and a few others. It is at the entrance of the ranch, the beginning if you will, the perfect place for those who were here at the very beginning of it all. 

We will be reminded of Chui when we see him on the many stock still photo images his gorgeous face continues to grace the covers of. And one day for those who believe (and Charlie is one of those who does) Chui will be reunited with Charlie and all who loved him so much in another place, a better place, a place where he, Charlie, Josef, Kolar, Brandi, Georgia and all the others will never be separated again. That's our belief and that's what makes times like this a bit easier to tolerate.
